April 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of RH Commercial Vehicles’ acquisition of Cotes Park Commercials Ltd, becoming then, RHCV’s third site. Located within Cotes Park industrial estate, it provides easy access to both the A38 and M1 Motorway.
Since then, the depot has been leading the repair, maintenance, and service of Renault Trucks under the management of Richard Bradbury. They can offer sales, rentals, vans, roller brake testing, and MOT testing for both trucks and trailers and it has a DVSA-approved Tachograph Centre.
The depot was bought into the business as part of RHCV’s strategy to become the leading independent Renault Trucks dealer. This site allowed them to cover the Derbyshire area for truck and van sales, repair, maintenance, testing and rentals.
It officially opened on 5th April 2013 with David Templeman as the first Dealer Point Manager.
He said, “I remember when I began as the Dealer Point Manager when Alfreton opened, it had a lot of potential.
“To see it develop over the years has been great and very rewarding.”
Ten years on, David is still with RHCV as a warranty and contracts supervisor and paintshop manager.
Over the years, the site has also proved very popular with industry-leading companies such as J.C. Balls and Sons, Bailey Construction, and Brett Martin.
Jamie Balls, from J.C. Balls and Sons, said, “The backup and level of service from Alfreton has always been second to none. We have always been looked after so well and have seen turnaround time in as little as an hour.”
Andrew Litchfield, from Brett Martin, said, “We moved to Alfreton from another brand. The service levels were far superior. I know our trucks are in safe hands with Richard Bradbury and the team.”
Recently, the depot has undergone significant refurbishments as part of RHCV’s ongoing commitment to improving the facilities, experience and well-being of staff and customers. The reception has been redesigned to be more welcoming to customers and the drivers’ waiting room has been relocated to provide a private space with TV access, additional seating, free hot drinks, and vending machines.
In January, the site was joint first in the Renault Trucks Dealer Quality Programme. This initiative measures the performance and dealer standards of each dealer’s aftermarket within Renault Trucks. It tracks the progress through Audits, MOT pass rate, breakdown performance, customer surveys and recall completion. The programme aims to ensure the best customer service is always given and that customer and employee facilities are continuously maintained and improved.
Alfreton scored 100%, meaning an RHCV dealer has been at the top of the leader board since 2021.
In December 2022, Harry Squires, an apprentice based at Alfreton won the Commercial Motor Magazine Apprentice of the Year.
Current Dealer Point manager, Richard Bradbury said, “I am immensely proud of the amount of hard work and dedication that has been put in over the years at Alfreton.
“The recent refurbishment of the facilities has allowed us to excel even further in the future and we look forward to providing even more for our customers within a facility that reflects our determination to provide top-quality services.”
